About Amanda

Amanda Griswold is an award-winning comedy director based in Los Angeles. Her work has been recognized at festivals worldwide, with her latest short, Buzzkill, racking up awards for Best Comedy Short Director, Best Actress, Best Short Film, and Best LGBTQ+ Film. However, her proudest achievement might be Buzzkill's viewing by Czech Republic secret service agents.

With a childhood split between watching action movies, reading fantasy novels, and dodging Midwest cow pies, Amanda brings a unique blend of grounded authenticity and irreverence. An example of this, from Amanda’s own life, is her education. Amanda snuck into USC’s School of Cinematic Arts graduate Film and Television program for three years, sitting in on classes and learning from some of the best. With a higher attendance record than some enrolled students, Amanda may not have that piece of paper, but she has a quarter of a million dollar education.

A proud member of IATSE Local 871, Amanda has worked as a script supervisor on television shows such as 9-1-1 (with Angela Bassett), Hal & Harper (with Mark Ruffalo), Station 19, and All Rise, as well as movies such as Breaking (with John Boyega). Her experience as a professional script supervisor translates to technical on-set skills that inform and back her directoral vision.

Other directing credits include the mini-series Work Retreat (Ep. 108), the proof-of-concept for TV’s Travel Nurse, and the Amazon web series Maybe Baby. A true collaborator, Amanda is committed to stories that surprise, delight, and laugh out loud.
